Musician 1st Class Shana E. Catandella,

MU1 Shana E. Catandella

Musician 1st Class Shana Catandella, a native of Long Island, New York, joined the U.S. Navy Band in 2001. After graduating from the Juilliard Pre-College in 1987, she earned a Bachelor of Music, Performance Certificate and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Music studying with Loren Kitt. A versatile musician, she minored in music education, voice, flute, saxophone and French horn. In 2000, she earned a Master of Music from the University of Maryland.

Catandella has performed in South East Asia, New Zealand, Australia and Norway. She has been a Navy Band soloist and a featured soloist with the Peabody Wind Ensemble and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra in Punta Gorda, Florida.

In addition to her Navy Band performance duties, she enjoys performing chamber recitals, teaching flute, clarinet and saxophone, and conducting masterclasses. Catandella completed a certificate in architecture and interior design in 2015.
