Clarinet Day for College and High School Students

Navy Band Clarinet Day, featuring a mix of performances, masterclasses and lectures geared toward high school- and college-aged musicians, will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sail Loft on the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. This year's clinician will be Richie Hawley, professor of clarinet at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music and former principal clarinetist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Hawley will be the guest soloist with the Concert Band the previous night (Friday, November 3, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.) on a performance at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall in Alexandria, Virginia.

The U.S. Navy Band, based in Washington D.C., is the Navy's premier musical organization. Staffed with some of the finest musicians in the nation and performing nearly 1,700 times each year, the band represents Sailors deployed around the world and around the clock.
