Meet the Musician
Musician 1st Class Renee H. DeBoer,
Raised in Independence, Mo., and Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Musician 1st Class Renee DeBoer earned a bachelor's degree in music from Lawrence University and a master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she was also awarded a Performer's Certificate.
Prior to joining the Navy Band, DeBoer was a member of the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Fla., the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Symphony in Japan, and the New Symphony of Arlington in Texas. In addition, she has performed with the Toronto Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, the Green Bay Symphony, the Palm Beach Symphony, and the Dallas Wind Symphony.
She has participated in numerous festivals and masterclasses around the world, including the National Repertory Orchestra, Spoleto Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the YouTube Symphony, and the Aspen Music Festival where she held a fellowship for three summers.
DeBoer has won concerto competitions and been awarded solo appearances with the New World Symphony, the Hyogo Performing arts Center Symphony, the Rochester Philharmonic, the Eastman Chamber Orchestra, the Lawrence Symphony, and was a semi-finalist in the New York Concert Artists Guild Competition.
When not fretting about reeds, DeBoer enjoys exploring Washington on foot.
