Meet the Musician

Musician 1st Class Sarah E. Demy,

Bb Clarinet


MU1 Sarah E. Demy
 

Musician 1st Class Sarah Demy, a third-generation clarinetist, grew up in Burke, Virginia. Before joining the Navy Band in 2017, she was associate principal/second clarinetist with the Midland-Odessa Symphony and performed regularly with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, Irving Symphony, Las Colinas Symphony and the Dallas Winds.


Demy received a Master of Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music from Louisiana State University. She won second prize in the 2011 International Clarinet Association Orchestral Excerpt Competition and was also a finalist in 2008. She has attended numerous summer festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute, Chautauqua Institute and Brevard Music Festival. Her primary teachers include Gregory Raden, Richie Hawley, Ronald Aufmann, Larry Bocaner, Ronald DeKant, Steve Cohen and Walter Todenhoft.
