Senior Chief Musician Curt R. Duer,


MU1 Curt R. Duer

Senior Chief Musician Curt Duer is from St. Marys, W.Va., and joined the Navy Band in 1995.  He transferred from The United States Continental Army Band in Ft. Monroe, Va., which he joined in 1993.  He earned a Bachelor of Music in performance from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.  Duer has performed with the National Philharmonic, the Richmond Symphony, the Maryland Symphony, the Annapolis Symphony and the West Virginia Symphony.  His teachers include Jim Culley, Al Otte, Ben Toth, Dick Jenson, Bill Platt and Guy Remonko.

In addition to his performance duties, Duer holds many additional responsibilities within the command. He is a leading Chief Musician in the Ceremonial Band as well as an assistant drum major.  He is also the command fitness leader, ensuring that all Navy Band personnel stay within Navy fitness standards.  In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and running.
