Meet the Musician
Musician 1st Class Brittany L. Foster,
Musician 1st Class Brittany Foster joined the Navy Band in December 2014, and serves as flutist in the Concert Band. Prior to this appointment, she held principal positions with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and the China National Opera Orchestra and performed regularly with the Louisville Orchestra and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. A prize winner in several national competitions, she won first prize in the National Flute Association's Orchestral Excerpts Competition, Chicago Flute Club Young Artist Competition, Mid-South Flute Society Young Artist Competition and second prize in the Myrna Brown Young Artist Competition. She attended the Sewanee Summer Music Festival and the Chautauqua Summer Music Festival, and was a fellowship recipient for the inaugural CCM Spoleto Summer Music Festival in Spoleto, Italy.
An avid educator, Foster taught masterclasses at Ohio Northern University and maintained a private teaching studio. She received her Bachelor of Music from Louisiana State University and her Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, where she is in the process of finishing her Doctor of Musical Arts.
In her free time, she loves to cook, read and spend time with friends.
