Chief Musician Dawn M. Henry
Chief Musician Dawn Henry joined the Navy Band in 2014. She began her military career in the U.S. Air Force Band in 1998 where she served as principal clarinetist and concertmaster. In 2003, Henry auditioned and was selected for assignment to the U.S. Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, Maryland, where she served for 11 years.
Originally from Quarryville, Pennsylvania, Henry attended Solanco High School. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in 1996 with a Bachelor of Music in performance and from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998 with a Master of Music in performance. Her primary teachers included Ronald DeKant, Ronald Aufmann and Charles West.
Henry has performed with the Susquehanna Winds, Northern Kentucky Symphony, Prince William Symphony, Little River Symphony, Manassas Ballet Orchestra, Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia and the American Symphonic Winds. She has also been active as a soloist and recitalist in the local community and throughout the country.
In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, traveling, cooking, gardening and running.
