MUCS Keith D. Hinton

Senior Chief Musician Keith Hinton, a native of Yorktown, Va., joined the Navy Band in 1992.  He received a Bachelor of Music in flute performance from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Bonita Boyd, Walfrid Kujala, Richard Sherman, and Timothy Hutchins.  After eight years as a flutist with the Concert Band, including three years as featured national tour soloist, Hinton was selected to be the music director/conductor of the Sea Chanters.  With the Sea Chanters, he appeared in notable events such as National Memorial Day Concerts, Kennedy Center Honors, the second presidential inauguration for President George W. Bush, concerts with the Cincinnati Pops orchestra, and state funerals for Presidents Reagan and Ford.  In 2007, Hinton was selected to be the assistant music director/conductor for the Armed Forces Chorus comprised of the members of all Washington, D.C., premier armed services choruses. 

 

Hinton became command productions chief in 2008 and is responsible for the design and performance of major command musical events including the Navy birthday and holiday concerts.  He is also responsible for the development of multimedia materials for conventions and promotional events.  He enjoys spending his free time with his family and helping with his church.
