Musician 1st Class Dennys V. Moura
Musician 1st Class Dennys Moura, a native of Gaithersburg, Md., joined the Navy Band in 2012. Moura earned his Bachelor of Music in vocal performance at the University of Maryland where he was awarded a full scholarship by the board of visitors and was named a distinguished scholar in the arts for the state of Maryland. A versatile artist, he is active in many performance genres including recital, pop, opera and early music. In 2011, he was the tenor soloist with the Choralis Foundation's productions of the Bach Magnificat and Mozart's Coronation Mass. As a chorister he has sung with both the National Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. In the greater D.C. community, he has served as a regular chorister and soloist at St. John's Waverly Village in Baltimore and as a featured recitalist for the Friday noon concerts at The Arts Club of Washington.
In the future, Moura plans on pursuing a master's degree in early music and teaching at the collegiate level. In his free time, he enjoys all things involving the outdoors, running, and spending time with his family.
