Meet the Musician
Musician 1st Class Jason W. Niehoff,
Musician 1st Class Jason Niehoff, a native of St. Louis, Mo., joined the Navy Band in 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Music in 2004 and a Master of Music in orchestral performance in 2006, both from the Manhattan School of Music. While in New York, he studied with Chris Lamb (New York Philharmonic), James Preiss (Steve Reich and Musicians), and Duncan Patton (Metropolitan Opera Orchestra). Prior to graduate studies, he studied with John Kasica and Rick Holmes, both of the St. Louis Symphony. He currently serves as timpanist.
Niehoff has performed with the St. Louis Symphony, the Fairfax Symphony, Choral Arts Society of Washington, Cathedral Choral Society, Master Chorale, Choralis, and Shakespeare Theatre Company at venues including the Kennedy Center, National Cathedral and Lansburgh Theatre and made appearances at Powell Hall and Carnegie Hall. He has also performed with Beyonce Knowles, Amy Grant, Usher, and Stevie Wonder. He spends most summers on faculty at the MasterWorks Festival in Winona Lake, Ind., and enjoys giving clinics at schools locally and throughout the country.
