Meet the Musician

Musician 1st Class Maia M. Rodriguez,

MU1 Maia M. Rodriguez

Musician 1st Class Maia Rodriguez, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, arrived at the Navy Band in 2013 from Navy Band Southwest in San Diego, where she served as the primary vocalist. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University, and has performed all over the world with Tokyo Disney Sea, Cirque du Soleil, Universal Orlando and Hollywood. Onstage she's sung reviews for the Star Theatre in Oceanside, Calif., Syracuse Stage in Syracuse, N.Y., the Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo., and for the New York Theater Festival. Favorite roles include Maria in "The Sound of Music," June in "Smoke on the Mountain" and Elphaba in "A Totally Wicked Revue." Most recently she was the musical director/composer/featured vocalist for Pirates Dinner Adventure in Buena Park, Calif., and Orlando, Fl.

Rodriguez has sung the National Anthem for the San Diego Chargers, the San Diego Padres and the Cleveland Browns. She's written two original musicals produced in San Diego and Baltimore; and "Evernight: The Musical," in which a children's fairy tale which was turned into a conceptual album in 2010. She has contributed to the "Hack & Slash Christmas Special: the Musical," a comedy charity event in Baltimore that also boasts its own original album.
