Chief Musician Michael M. Shelburne,
Bb Clarinet
Mike Shelburne, a native of El Paso, Texas, joined the Navy Band in 1996. He received a Bachelor of Music in Performance in 1994 from Texas Tech University, where he graduated magna cum laude. Chief Shelburne is a three-time semifinalist in the International Clarinet Association’s Young Artist Competition and a former member of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and American Wind Symphony. His teachers include Vin Richards and Dr. Robert Walzel.
Chief Shelburne currently plays clarinet and bass clarinet with the Navy Band
Harbor Winds clarinet quartet. He also serves as stage manager for the concert band and is responsible for the transport and setup of band equipment for all concerts.
