Meet the Musician

Musician 1st Class Jeffrey T. Snavely,

Bb Clarinet


MU1 Jeffrey T. Snavely
 

Jeffrey Snavely, a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, joined the Navy Band in 2002.  He attended Indiana University in Bloomington where he received a Bachelor of Music and a Performer's Certificate. His teachers include Jack Snavely, Howard Klug, James Campbell, Eli Eban and Sidney Forrest.  He was a featured soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony as the winner of their Young Artists' Competition and was also the 1992 winner of the International Clarinet Society's Young Artist Competition.


Prior to joining the Navy Band, Petty Officer Snavely was a member of the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. for seven years where he performed on clarinet & saxophones and was a frequent soloist.  He currently performs on Bb, alto, bass, and contra clarinets and alto and tenor saxophones, and is a member of the Harbor Winds clarinet quartet.  In addition to performing, Petty Officer Snavely is a photographer for the Navy Band Public Affairs office, an assistant music librarian, and handles copyright issues for band arrangements & recordings.  Petty Officer Snavely enjoys mountain-biking in Utah and is an avid auto-enthusiast.
