Meet the Musician
Musician 1st Class Haley E. Stiltner,
Musician 1st Class Haley Stiltner, from Windsor, Virginia, joined the Navy Band in 2017 as a banjo instrumentalist. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in bluegrass, old time, and country music studies, and a master’s degree in business, both from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Her teachers include Raymond McLain and Will Parsons.
While in Tennessee she played banjo full-time with the band Next Best Thing, based in Johnson City and led by Sally Berry and Tensel Burke. She taught banjo at East Tennessee State University during her time as a graduate assistant. After graduating college, she toured full-time on upright bass with The Little Roy & Lizzy Show based in Lincolnton, Georgia, and performed at numerous venues across the country while maintaining a part-time position as a data analyst in Advancement Services for East Tennessee State University. During her time in college, Stiltner had the privilege of performing on the Grand Ole Opry with Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. She has also been sought out on many recording projects on banjo, bass and guitar.
In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her family and two cats.
