Meet the Musician
Chief Musician Shana L. Sullivan,
Unit Leader, Vocals
Chief Musician Shana Sullivan, a native of Lufkin, Texas, enlisted in the Navy in 1995. She attended Del Mar Community College in Corpus Christi, Texas with a vocal scholarship and then Stephen F. Austin State University. She then attended the University of New Orleans where she worked towards a Bachelor of Science.
Sullivan enlisted in the United States Navy as a vocalist and upon completion of recruit training at Great Lakes in Chicago, Ill. she attended the School of Music in Norfolk, Va. She began her first tour of duty in Yokosuka, Japan and was attached to the USS BLUERIDGE where she wowed audiences in Far East Asia.
Upon completion of her tour in Japan Sullivan was assigned to Navy Band Mid-South in Millington, Tenn. where she performed at local high schools and fairs in the mid-south region recruiting for the Navy. While in Millington, she was selected for many Navy Music recruiting advertisements in magazines as well as featured in a Navy Music video for the Right Spirit Campaign that has been used on U.S. Navy ships and at NRTC Great Lakes. In 2005 she was selected as the lead singer for the Navy Band Cruisers, the Navy’s premier rock band. She continues to entertain audiences all over the world and throughout the capitol region.
