Brian Kauth is an active performer and teacher of the saxophone based in the Hudson Valley region of New York. Active in both the classical and jazz idioms, he performs frequently with the New York Wind Symphony, the Hudson Valley Saxophone Orchestra, the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Swing Shift Orchestra and the Big Blue Big Band. A proponent of new music, Kauth has worked with several composers to contribute to the saxophone repertoire, including premiering solo and chamber works by Michael Bies, Brandon Nelson, Jamie Leigh Sampson, Marc Satterwhite, Andrew Martin Smith and James Willey. As a scholar, his articles have been published in Saxophone Today and the Saxophone Symposium. Kauth earned degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and SUNY Fredonia, studying saxophone with Lawrence Gwozdz, Wildy Zumwalt and Laurence Wyman, and receiving additional instruction from Carina Raschèr, Jean-Marie Londeix and the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet.
