Colin Crake

Colin Crake, from Fairfax, Virginia, is a junior pursuing a Bachelor of Music in saxophone performance under the instruction of Professor Chien-Kwan Lin at Eastman School of Music. He has garnered several accolades from various competitions, including the first prize from the 2017 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition, and advancing to the semi-finals of the 2017 Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition in Bangkok, Thailand. He is a founding member of the Iizuna Quartet, an Eastman-based saxophone quartet, performing both standard and contemporary repertoire in various venues throughout the U.S., including the 2017 International Saxophone Symposium in Washington, D.C., and the 2017 Coltman Chamber Competition in Austin, Texas. Crake has performed in masterclasses taught by Carrie Koffman and the PRISM Quartet, and previously studied with Ed Fraedrich. He is currently a member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mark Scatterday and the Eastman Saxophone Project under the direction of Chien-Kwan Lin.
