Biography

The Mosaic Quartet is an all-female group from Eastern Michigan University. It is comprised of music education students studying under Professor Woodrow Chenoweth. Samantha Meyers and Alexis Sikes are members of the EMU Wind Symphony, and Chelsey Parker and Emily Schaefer are members of the EMU Symphonic Band. The goal of this ensemble is to promote women in music, and especially women in saxophone. The members of Mosaic have studied the challenges of women in music and the world, and created this ensemble in an effort to share their common experiences. The name of this quartet is derived from a quote by feminist icon Alice Paul: “…the movement is a sort of mosaic. Each of us puts in one little stone, and then you get a great mosaic at the end.”
