Biography


The newly formed Fiyo Quartet consists of saxophonists of the Oklahoma State University Jazz Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. A group of diverse musicians, the members include Oklahoma natives Matthew Floeter on baritone saxophone and Sydney Pointer on tenor saxophone, Ashley Krogstad from South Dakota on alto saxophone, and Alexis Seah of Singapore on soprano saxophone. In addition to several OSU performances, the Fiyo Quartet participated in the MTNA competition and looks forward to performing at the national NASA Conference in Cincinnati.



Alexis Seah Hee Cheng is an avid performer in Singapore. She graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with a Diploma in Music in 2014 and Bachelor of Music in collaboration with the Royal College of Music in 2016, under the tutelage of Leslie Wong. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music with Jeffrey Loeffert at Oklahoma State University, where she serves as a teaching assistant in the studio.



Ashley Krogstad is currently a second year graduate student studying with Jeffrey Loeffert and Tommy Poole and pursuing a master's degree in saxophone performance. She is a teaching assistant for the saxophone studio and Introduction to Music. Krogstad received a Bachelor of Arts with a saxophone performance emphasis and a Bachelor of Arts in French studies from South Dakota State University.



Sydney Pointer is a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music education studying saxophone with Jeffrey Loeffert and Thomas Poole. Pointer was the winner of the 2017 OSU Concerto Competition



Matthew Floeter is a junior with a double major in music performance and education. He currently holds the lead alto chair in the OSU Jazz Orchestra and plays baritone in the OSU Wind Ensemble.
