Direct Input - Using primary sources to develop a jazz language
This lecture will describe a process for using focused transcription and development of primary source material to develop a personalized jazz language.
Master Chief Musician (ret.) Gregory Dudzienski has performed extensively throughout Europe, South America and the Middle East, as well as around the United States. Dudzienski has presented lectures and classes on improvisation, jazz harmony and arranging at the U.S. Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, the University of Rhode Island and at high schools throughout the United States. He has performed with many jazz and popular music artists including: the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, John Fedchock, Phil DeGreg, Tito Puente, Marian McPartland, Pamela Hines, John Lockwood, Bob Gullotti, Brooke Sofferman, Maureen McGovern, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Arts Festival Jazz Orchestra, the O’Jays and the Temptations. His most recent recording is called “La Luna.”
