Jacob Kopcienski is an emerging saxophonist and musicologist based in Morgantown, West Virginia. He has performed throughout the United States, France, Italy, Australia and Malaysia. Recent performances have taken him to Spectrum (New York City), the Bowling Green State University New Music Festival, UC Berkeley, CNMAT (Berkeley, California) and the Omaha Under the Radar festival. Premiering numerous works, he has worked with composers including Vinko Globokar, François Rossé, Ravi Kittappa, Julien Malaussena and Molly Joyce. Kopcienski is currently conducting an interdisciplinary research study on how performers perceive and process their interactions with interactive electronic music systems. He has presented previous research at Columbia University’s Computer Music Center. He is currently dual-enrolled in the saxophone performance and musicology master’s degree programs at West Virginia University.
