Saxophonist James Umble is an internationally recognized soloist, teacher, chamber musician and clinician. He is professor of music at Youngstown (Ohio) State University. For more than 20 years, he has appeared throughout the country and internationally in an eclectic trio known as the Cleveland Duo and James Umble with Carolyn and Stephen Warner who have both enjoyed long and distinguished careers in the Cleveland Orchestra. He also has appeared numerous times as a guest performer in the wind section of the Cleveland Orchestra and has performed under numerous conductors including Pierre Boulez, David Zinman and Franz Welser Most. Umble was a guest artist faculty member at the celebrated annual American Saxophone Institute held this past summer at the University of Iowa. He also was a featured international guest artist at the 2014 ClariSAx Fest in Medellin, Colombia. Umble's book "Jean-Marie Londeix, Master of The Modern Saxophone" is a standard reference text in use.
