Master Sergeant Jeremy P. Koch is an active saxophonist, chamber musician and teacher based in the Washington, D.C., area. He has been a member of the United States Air Force Band since 1998 and selected as principal saxophone in 2015. He has been a featured concert soloist on national tours and international conferences with the USAF Band and regularly performs with the Atlantic Reed Consort, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Two Rivers Chamber Ensemble, Prince William Symphony Orchestra, Serapis Ensemble, Great Noise Ensemble and most recently toured Palestine with the Ramallah Orchestra. Koch maintains a private studio in Northern Virginia and is adjunct professor of saxophone at Shepherd University and Northern Virginia Community College. He earned a Bachelor of Music from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and received a Master of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His teachers include Debra Richtmeyer, Jonathan Helton, Michael Chesher and Jean-Marie Londeix at Le Domaine Forget.
Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Technical Sergeant Carolyn Braus received a bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance from North Dakota State University and a master’s degree from Arizona State University. From 2015 to 2016, she performed as the baritone saxophonist in the Capitol Quartet before assuming her current position as the baritone saxophonist in the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. As a chamber musician, Braus was a finalist in the 2015 Astral Artists National Auditions, 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Saxophone Quartet Competition and the 2012 Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition. She was awarded second place in the 2015 Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition. As a soloist, she was the winner of the 2013 North Dakota State University Concerto Competition and a finalist in the 2014 NASA Solo Competition. Braus has performed as a recital soloist and with numerous big bands and popular music groups in the Phoenix, Arizona, area, and has shared the stage with artists Benny Golson, Ralph Alessi, Ingrid Jensen, Lewis Nash, and the Temptations.
