West Virginia-based saxophonist Julia Kuhlman explores new aesthetic and auditory possibilities through research and collaboration in contemporary music. Dedicated to expanding a body of new works both inside and outside of saxophone, she has premiered pieces for solo saxophone, saxophone quartet and mixed ensembles by composers Cory Kasprzyk, J. Andrew Smith and Dalen Wuest, among others. Parallel to her career in saxophone, Kuhlman also studies musicology, and is the social media coordinator for I Care if You Listen. She is pursuing her master's degrees at West Virginia University with Professor Michael Ibrahim and completed her bachelor's degree at Bowling Green State University with Professor John Sampen.
