Sequenza IXb, Luciano Berio
Tre Pezzi per sassofono, Giacinto Scelsi
Kyle Jones, saxophonist, is a performer, teacher and new music advocate whose natural curiosity towards music leads him to challenge the parameters of his instrument, as well as his art. His varied playing experience in multiple genres gives him a unique insight when interpreting music, both new and old. In addition to his advocacy for new music, Jones is also working to make his art more approachable by seeking out unique performance venues, collaborating with artists in other mediums, and dismantling long-standing barriers between performers and audience members. As a performer, Jones has performed in various venues across the East Coast, both as a soloist and a chamber musician. He regularly performs with Winds of the Mountain Empire and Stateline Wind Symphony, serving as principal in both ensembles. He was a finalist in the Elizabeth Harper Vaughan concerto competition, the first saxophonist to be accepted in twelve years. He is currently finishing his Master of Music in saxophone performance at Peabody Conservatory, where he is a student of Gary Louie. Prior to his studies at Peabody, he was a student of Thomas F. Crawford with whom he studied both clarinet and saxophone.
