MUC Andrew C. Oppenheim

Senior Chief Musician Andrew Oppenheim, raised in Modesto, Calif., joined the Navy Band in 1995.  He earned a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University and a Master of Music from Arizona State University, both in tuba performance.  Prior to joining the Navy Band, Oppenheim was working towards a Doctorate of Musical Arts at Indiana University.  His principal instructors were Harvey Phillips and Dan Perantoni. Oppenheim was a founding member of the Navy Band Brass Quartet, performing regularly at the White House, Pentagon and frequently on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Since joining the Navy Band, he has worked in public affairs, operations, on the command training team and as a sexual assault victim intervention advocate.  Currently, Oppenheim is serving as euphonium section leader.

In his free time, he enjoys reading, playing video games, cooking, taking long walks on the beach and spending time with his family, serving as leader for both a Brownie Troop and Tiger Cub Den.  He is also an avid New York Yankee fan.
