Meet the Musician

Chief Musician Timothy D. Stanley,


MUC Timothy D. Stanley

Tim Stanley, born and raised in Belleville, Ill., joined the Navy Band in 2004.  He studied Jazz at Eastern Illinois University where his teachers included acclaimed pianist Henry Butler and W. Parker Melvin. MUC Stanley enlisted in the Navy as a musician in 1997. His first assignment was to Navy Band Northeast. In 2001 he joined the U.S. Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, Md., performing as a jazz soloist with the Next Wave Jazz Ensemble and with the concert and ceremonial bands.  He is also a member of the Grammy-winning Latin Jazz ensemble, “Afro Bop Alliance”, and the “Unified Jazz Ensemble”. He has performed and/or recorded with Chris Potter, Jerry Bergonzi, Poncho Sanchez, Dave Samuels and many others.


Chief Musician Stanley also serves as the Commodores Stage Crew Chief. He enjoys long distance running, cooking, and spending time with his family.
