Meet the Musician
Musician 1st Class Chelsi N. Vanderpol,
Musician 1st Class Chelsi Vanderpol, from Lynden, Washington, joined the Navy Band in 2015 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from Azusa Pacific University. While there she was involved in musical theater and in several choral ensembles including the APU jazz ensemble and the university choir and orchestra, in which she was a featured soloist under the direction of John Sutton and Rod Cathey.
While in Los Angeles, Vanderpol performed in multiple local and regional theater productions and taught vocal classes at Dancemaker Studios. She also served as a worship leader for Pomona First Baptist Church. Some of her favorite performance roles include Eva Peron in “Evita,” Tuptim in “The King and I,” and Miss Evelyn Nesbit in “Ragtime.” Immediately prior to joining the Navy, Vanderpol was a swashbuckling singing pirate at “Pirates Dinner Adventure” in Buena Park, California, where she worked for three years as a contracted performer and musical director.
In her free time she enjoys dabbling in aerial silks, and baking.
